I am interested in the functional and political transformation of the cultural objects (incense burner, prayer wheel, disaster
scene, political dolls) by the scientific faith, which has been revered significantly in nowadays contemporary human condition, in today's Asian society. Due to the traditional cultural connotation has been forced to mutate its historical whisper in order to link to the chain of global network, my art practices have been led to explore the illustration and the form beyond these demigods (scientific faiths), who have manipulated and formed the belief of consuming old knowledge (stories, religions, disasters, rituals), and intended to simulate the image of hybridity species , which had accounted for a dramatic part in this accelerated human condition. I am intending to map the future scenario of the story that inheriting the legacy form the empire (It is not defined as a specific dynasty, but an intangible force that has existed and played a vital role in the direction of humanity path).
In my practices, Meditation from the Empire Legacy, Most of works are sculptures and installations that were constructed by some abandoned industrial materials, such as concrete tube, rusted metals and disaster wreckages, and applied to cross-dress the original cultural items by no-longer-be-worshiped value. The concept of “Meditation” carries the way of exploring and imagining the future landscape in order to question how traditional cultural context and materials would be transited and re-contained in political and scientific language in today.
